Best Treehouse Rentals in New Jersey (2026)
Looking for a treehouse rental in New Jersey? Unlike some neighbouring states, New Jersey has very few genuine treehouses that you can actually book for an overnight stay. After researching the available options, Cedar Lake Treehouse in Denville is the standout choice for a true treehouse getaway in the Garden State.
Rather than filling this guide with regular cabins or properties that aren’t actually treehouses, I’ve kept it focused on the genuine treehouse stay worth considering.
Below you’ll find everything you need to know about Cedar Lake Treehouse, along with tips on where to stay and alternative treehouse destinations near New Jersey if you want more choice.

Cedar Lake tree house
This charming oasis in the trees, is perfect for those who love wildlife and being close to nature.
This New Jersey treehouse cabin exudes remoteness but is close to downtown Denville, all the major highways and the trains/buses to NYC.
Located in Morris County NJ, just 50 minutes from New York, this unique home overlooks the beautiful Cedar Lake, and has two decks with breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
The upper deck is sunny with a great view (on a clear day you can even see Manhattan!) and has a fire pit.
The lower deck is more shaded and protected, which is great for both hot or rainy days.
There is a hammock which is great for spotting deer, fox, turkey and maybe even bears from.
Denville has plenty of restaurants, yoga studios, pubs, and local stores, and on Sunday there is a farmers market in town.
Note that the parking area is 50 steps below the property, so taking a backpack rather than wheeled luggage will be a lot easier!
Why we picked it: Cedar Lake Treehouse is our top choice for a genuine treehouse stay in New Jersey, combining beautiful lake views and a peaceful woodland setting with a surprisingly convenient location. We love the two spacious decks overlooking Cedar Lake, including a sunny upper deck with a fire pit and views that can stretch as far as Manhattan on a clear day. Despite feeling tucked away among the trees, downtown Denville is close by and New York City is within easy reach, making this a great option for a nature escape without feeling completely remote.
