Packing List for Treehouse Rentals

One of the most important tips for staying in a tree house rental, is to pack light!

So here are a checklist of essentials to consider:

Outdoor Footwear

Hiking boots are essential for nearly every treehouse stay, this is because they are usually surrounded by forests, and are located a short walking distance away from the car parking space.

Sturdy closed toe footwear is also a great idea if the tree house in question has a ladder or rope bridge to enter the treehouse for rent.

If the weather is wet, you might prefer a pair of wellington boots and a raincoat.

Luggage

For a lot of the same reasons, it is sensible to bring a backpack on your treehouse holiday instead of a rolling suitcase or a handheld duffel bag.

You may need to have your hands free to safely climb up the ladder or stairs, or to hold onto the ropes as you cross the bridge.

Lighting

Whether your tree house stay has power or not, it still makes sense to bring a flash light or even better a headlamp, as it allows you to keep your hands free.

These are particularly handy if:

  • Your bathroom is located elsewhere
  • You go for an evening walk
  • Your arrive to the treehouse retreat late, and need to find it in the dark
  • The power goes out
  • You plan to use the outdoor space in the evenings

Toiletries

Some treehouse stays are super luxurious and will include an array of toiletries, but most will need you to bring your own so packing some travel friendly items is a must.

Here are a few essentials:

  • Dry Shampoo – if you don’t want to wash your hair on your treehouse break
  • Toothpaste Tablets – If you want to cut down on how much you pack
  • Sunscreen – This is an everyday essential but even more so if you will be spending a lot of time outdoors
  • Bug Spray – If your tree house break is located somewhere tropical
  • First Aid Kit – Cuts and grazes are quite possible in rustic tree house breaks, so always be prepared

Food and Drinks

Your treehouse getaway may not be located that close to a supermarket or restaurant so it is important to bring food, snacks and water with you.

Check first if your tree house break has a kitchen and a fridge so you can plan your meals accordingly. If a fridge isn’t available, get a cooler for drinks.

Comfort

A lot of glamping tree house stays have showers in an outhouse, or hot tubs on the property, so a bathrobe and flip flops are one of the best luxury items to bring on your tree house holiday if that is the case.

You can also use them for lounging around whilst inside the treehouse escape, or for warmth if it gets chilly.

Other items to pack for a treehouse cabin include:

  • An extra blanket if the weather isn’t warm enough
  • A hammock if the treetop getaway doesn’t already have one, or if you want multiple choices!
  • Earplugs in case you want to zone out the noises
  • A sleep mask if you like a comfortable blackout experience

Entertainment

Treehouse breaks are a great place to connect with nature, but if you need some more entertainment remember to bring a pack of playing cards, or board games.

If you really want to get into the treehouse state of mind, why not bring one of these amazing books about treehouses.

If you must bring electronics, then I suggest also bringing a power bank for charging them, you can even try a solar powered charger.
